Thursday Headlines: WWE Network to be DelayedBy Thomas & Aaron BriggsThe inevitable has happened: The WWE Network is likely to be delayed until fall.  This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has been following along.  The Network is lacking in developed content, carrier support, and even staff.  Although the WWE was hoping to launch the ambitious channel by Wrestlemania, it seems impossible at this point.<!--more-->Fans might be disappointed by the news, but honestly, it’s the right decision.  The Network will be one of the riskiest moves Vince McMahon has ever made.  If it’s a failure, he’ll be out millions of dollars and risks destroying his pay-per-view business model.  Of course, if he’s successful, the Network could instantly become one of the company’s most profitable assets.Because of the risk involved, and the potential of the venture, the WWE needs to exercise caution here.  That much should be obvious, but this is Vince McMahon we’re talking about, he tells caution to get fucked on a daily basis.  So upon hearing reports of a ‘Mania launch, many thought it was crazy, and there was too little time, but that hey, that’s Vince McMahon for ya.  To see him step on the breaks just a few months away from Wrestlemania comes as a great relief. The WWE simply doesn’t have enough in place to succeed at the moment, and they’re moving at a snail’s pace.  It’s difficult to tell if their slow pace should be attributed to early problems (and if so, how major they may be) or if they’re simply being diligent in developing must-see content and hiring quality individuals.  As fans, lets hope it’s the latter rather than the former.I like the concept of the WWE Network.  In an ideal world, it would feature great retro content, a new, wrestling-heavy weekly show, and free monthly specials that replace expensive pay-per-views.  I’ll ask my cable company for that, it’s worth requesting.  So if the extra few months or more help WWE deliver the ideal, then I’m all for it.  But we all know that the delay will only be a good thing if the WWE makes intelligent decisions in the extra time they’ll have.  And given the fact that they’ve already made the idiotic choice of publicly advertising their proposed Network without even having proper management in place, things aren’t off to a good start. In Other News:

Hulk Hogan, in response to the ongoing war of words between the Ultimate Warrior and Kevin Nash, tweeted that the Warrior sucked in the ring.  A few minutes later, Hogan released the following:
Not only was Warrior a terrible worker, but I don’t even think the guy’s seen active duty before.  You know... since he’s a “warrior” and all?  You’d just think...  he’d see active duty...  Kinda seems suspicious by my estimations.   Guy has some rockin’ pecks though, that’s for sure...  Oh god!  You’re doing it again Hulk, just like Linda said.  Play it cool... Play it cool...  Hey, you guys catch the game?  How ‘bout that Tebow?  Yeah, that’ll fool them. (SEScoops)
ESPN financial analyst Michael Steele recently claimed that John Cena is the WWE’s top retail earner, valued at $106 million dollars a year.  The WWE’s lowest retail earner?  You guessed it - the one-man cock band.  Apparently Wendy’s has the market cornered on effeminate gingers. (SEScoops)Linda McMahon was recently accused of plagiarism.  The piece in question is an op-ed for the CT News Junkie that covers her stance on the Keystone oil Pipeline.  I don’t see what the big deal is, it’s nice to see Linda taking a page from my college playbook.  Atta girl.  Apparently rule #1 for getting through a state college also applies to major politics: if you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, pretend like you do and steal some other guy’s work. (SEScoops)The Rock will somehow be involved in the introduction for this week’s Green Bay Packers vs. New York Giants playoff game.  In my personal opinion, The Rock makes everything he’s involved in better, so it should be a great game.  He’s also starring in GI Joe 2: Retaliation, which I can’t wait to see.  It looks like the good kind of awful.  Watch the trailer and try not to mark out: and opinions?
