Welp, it looks like indy favorite, El Generico may have finally been picked up by WWE. If you're one of the guys who has already read about this, and jizzed in his pants, good for you. If you've never heard of Generico, check him out, because he's pretty cool. (There are plenty of other videos of him, so if you don't want to watch a 15-minute tag match, you have other options.)
Independent wrestler star El Generico (Rami Sebei) has reportedly signed with WWE. The news was originally reported by PWPonderings.com. (Author's Note: This is a link to a podcast--you can listen if you want, I guess.) PWTorch has confirmed with one source the validity of the report and is working to confirm with more sources. On the independent scene, Generico is scheduled to compete at this weekend's DDT4 tag tournament presented by Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. PWG tweeted late Tuesday: "Even though he's injured, El Generico insists on being at PWG for DDT4! He's back in the tournament with Kevin Steen!"
I'm simultaneously excited and nervous about this, mostly because I fully expect Generico to come in as something stupid like the love-child of Sheamus and Rey Mysterio. Whatever. I hope I'm wrong, and it sort of remains to be seen if this is actually true, but it would be pretty cool. Sorry, Sin Cara.
In other news...
WWE Hall of Famer, Sunny, is out of rehab and engaged to the guy she assaulted, or whatever, because people are strange and violence brings out all the love, I guess. Congrats to the happy couple? (PWInsider)
"The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero has left TNA, and no one noticed that he was gone, because no one realized he was ever there. (PWInsider)
My favorite "news" item is that "Alberto Del Rio is dealing with some kind of personal issues." That's the whole story, essentially. It's almost as if wrestlers are real humans who have lives outside the ring. (PWPix)
And, in case you missed it earlier in the week, I wrote a column about why I don't like The Rock. You can check it out here if you want.
That's all for me today.
