CM Punk to Headline WWE 2K26 Showcase, Huge Roster and Draft Rumored

CM Punk stands in front of a fiery background, with a cross-armed pose and signature hand wraps, surrounded by action shots from his WWE career in WWE 2K26's Showcase mode.

Contrary to early reports, WWE did not announce WWE 2K26 during the first Raw of the new year. At this time, the publisher has not announced footage or official details regarding the next entry of WWE 2K. Even so, that silence hasn’t stopped what are potentially spoilers from popping up online, – one huge rumour about this year’s Showcase mode in particular.

Leak Suggests CM Punk Will Headline WWE 2K26 Showcase

Insider Gaming reports that WWE 2K26’s Showcase mode will mainly focus on CM Punk, and fans are already excited about it. If accurate, the mode would spotlight Punk’s career through a series of matches, complete with cinematic segments and commentary delivered by Punk himself. This would mirror the presentation style used in WWE 2K25’s Bloodline Dynasty, though with Punk narrating his own story rather than an external voice.

The report also claims the Showcase will continue the revised format introduced last year. Traditionally, Showcase modes recreated historic WWE matches exactly as they occurred. WWE 2K25 expanded on that formula by mixing real-life bouts with alternate endings and fully fictional matchups. That same approach is expected to return in 2K26.

If the leak holds true, players would relive key moments from Punk’s actual career, experience dream matches that never took place, and explore “What If” scenarios imagining how things might have unfolded had Punk never exited WWE in 2014. Fantasy bouts such as long-rumored clashes with legends are also said to be part of the package.

Massive Roster Rumored, Universe Mode Draft Planned

Insider Gaming’s Mike Straw has also shared a few more details on Discord, offering a clearer picture of what WWE 2K26 might include. One of the biggest claims is that the game could have more than 400 playable characters, which would easily make it the largest roster in WWE video game history. That said, it’s still not clear whether this number applies to the base game at launch or the final total after all DLC is released.

Straw also suggests that Universe Mode will finally incorporate a draft system.Universe Mode lets players take full control of WWE’s booking and overall structure, and adding a draft would make it much easier to manage brands and rosters the way fans want. Many people see this as something the mode has needed for a long time, but until WWE or 2K confirms it, the feature should still be taken as a rumor.

When an Official Reveal Could Happen

As with all leaks, none of this has been confirmed by 2K or WWE. But the parties inside have a good history of being true, so there is something to it. There are also reports that 2K had filmed a reveal trailer for WWE 2K26 in December which will be dropped soon with the news of WWE 2K coming back.

There has been some talk within the industry that indicates the Royal Rumble is where we could see an official announcement but a Raw reveal would not be out of the question. Until that point, fans will need to wait for an announcement to learn exactly how much of this leaked information will come true.
