Creative Team Shakeup
Wrestling fan Brian James (Road Dogg) has left the creative team in WWE. His departure is at the right time to the firm. With the coming of WrestleMania 42, the exodus of one of the veterans in the company creative voice has made some individuals in the company question where the present storylines are headed.
James Leaves SmackDown Creative
Friday Night SmackDown had also been co-lead written by James. He remained a legendary character and an extremely strong entity in the creative department. The company did not leave him free as it was stated in several industry reports. Instead, it was an individual decision of leaving the job.
As the people who are close to the situation are telling, James was increasingly becoming peripheral in the ongoing creative deliberations. An accumulation of frustration is alleged. This was a horrible surprise to many fans, but internally, it was not as unpleasant as insiders claim.
WWE Faces Creative Pressure
This has resulted in the additional pressure to the creative structure of WWE because of the timing. The wrestlemania season is mostly the most crucial season of the year. It is during these weeks that long term story lines are built. The fact that they lose a long-time voice will be a challenge to the rest of the team.
James has participated in the system of WWE creation over several years. He has endured some periods of creativity as well as philosophies of leadership. The fact that he was capable of knowing the story lines of the past and talent development had his name valued. Such an experience cannot be easily substituted.
Williams Promoted to RAW
In the meantime, there is another significant creative move that WWE made recently. Alexandra Williams has been promoted to Monday Night RAW Head and a Vice President and Lead Writer. Her promotion is a pointer of a broader change in the company with regard to creative leadership of Paul “Triple H” Leveske.
New Leadership Challenges
There is new leadership which goes hand in hand with new ideas and new energy. However, the instability can also be caused by changes in the short-run. The writers have no other option but to adapt quick to the new requirements. The wrestlers may be introduced to alterations in the character direction or the storylines.
There have been various reports in the backstage that indicate that there is a split in morale in the locker room. One of the players is happy with the new creative direction. Others are also apprehensive about this and especially when the mega wrestlemania events are approaching the climax.
