The speculation regarding the possibility of a comeback of Chris Jericho into WWE is once again spreading out, and CM Punk might have contributed to the discussion. During the last two weeks of Monday Night Raw, Punk has given promos that contained subtle allusions long time wrestling fans have easily identified as allusions to AEW present day star. Although this has not been proven, the timing of the comments made by many people has made them question whether there is something therein.
Punk’s Jericho Reference
The first one was when the Raw had a rough closing part on March 2 and CM Punk had to face Roman Reigns. In the heated exchange, Punk made one sharp remark that instantly resonated with those WWE fans who could recognize the history of Jericho in the company. Punk informed Reigns, brother, you are on the list. The term was also well-known when Jericho used it in his final great WWE run when he came up with the catchy-catchphrase of the List of Jericho. The comment may have been dismissed as a coincidence easily at the time when they did a long and emotional promo.
But the speculation escalated in the next episode of Raw in the next week. When Punk and The Usos were in a confrontation, Punk alluded to sitting under the learning tree of the Wild Samoans. The comment is aimed at the mythical tag team of Afa and Sika, also known as The Wild Samoans and Sika is also the father to Roman Reigns. The phrase instantly aroused interest since Jericho has spent the past few years in All Elite Wrestling as the Leader of a faction where he identifies himself as The Learning Tree.
Jericho Return Rumors
Jericho has also been involved in a number of rumors about a potential WWE retirement over the last few months. The fans were of the opinion that he will feature in the first Raw event of 2026 after WWE executive Adam Pearce hinted during a social media post that someone would be able to break through the walls, an apparent allusion to the Jericho entrance theme and the Jericho Walls. This same speculation also preceded the Royal Rumble and the enigmatic plot of Elimination Chamber 2026.
Jericho Still With AEW
In the meantime, Jericho is still present on the official roster page of AEW. It has also been reported that his contract could have been extended by time due to injuries. Despite this, the sequential allusions of Punk have created a new interest among its fans. Having a long history between Punk and Jericho, with their rivalry over the WWE Championship becoming one of the precursors of the upcoming WrestleMania XXVIII, people are questioning whether such remarks are mere witty phrases or early clues of something even larger.
