Up until Royal Rumble PLE of 2026, the viewers could not ignore a peculiar and unusual confrontation between El Grande Americano and his own copycat. The two men were in the same gimmick that actually created a very original and memorable plot. Months after the first incident where he had been hurt, he returned to the show and has regained his identity and made himself the real El Grande Americano.
Stolen Identity Storylines
This is a testimony of an uncontrollable and weird plot of professional wrestling. The concept of stolen identity has been employed in the past in all sorts of marketing, in the case of WWE, WCW and AEW, but it has worked out more often than not to create memorable yet strange storylines. Though not all of them are regretted, the majority of these instances are not retained because of their quality but because of the unusual nature they have.
El Grande Americano Return

As an effort to explore the phenomenon of lucha libre art, it was Chad Gable who first came up with the character of El Grande Americano. Not to the extent of luck, he would subsequently mutilate himself, putting the gimmick in suspended animation. It was later transferred to Ludwig Kaiser who took the character to the next level and presented it to the fans as his own. The original El Grande Americano came back in a melodramatic manner at the 2026 Royal Rumble in the battle against his successor, and it led to an intense rivalry that is still being talked about.
Mask Rivalry Heats Up
Following this confrontation, the tension between the two rose. His doujin was just beaten in a match by the original El Grande Americano which was a good indication that he is not going to hand over the gimmick. The fans of WWE are now keenly awaiting the answer to the question of who will be left with the iconic mask and persona.
Being so much involved in the plot, any of these two participants will lose the mask at the next WWE matches, and this unusual rivalry will become quite high. The conflict of identities is already debated by the viewers of wrestling and it has already become one of the most interesting lines of 2026.
