Trump’s WWE Legacy
The connection of the Donald Trump and WWE is not a new one, but a recent revelation shows to what extent politics and wrestling were on the verge of colliding. Since the 1980s, Trump has been associated with the Stamford based promotion, which he featured in WrestleMania IV, and in other occasions appearing in WWE television in the 2000s. The most notable was likely when he could afford to buy RAW on a storyline because he bought it at the last offer that Vince McMahon gave him and was in the Battle of the Billionaires in the 23rd ed of WrestleMania in 2007. His highest point in the WWE career was a Hall of Fame graduation in 2013.
Hager’s Trump Storyline
The plot, however, would be vastly different years later, in the event that the fans had their wish come true when former World Heavyweight Champion Jake Hager, who was regarded to be Jack Swagger, got his way with it. An interview with Hager, on the Inside the Ring podcast of TMZ showed that he sold an angle to Trump in 2015 when he sought his first term of office.
Swagger’s Political Angle
Hager stated that he would prefer to appear in WWE television with his manager Dutch Mantell playing the Trump public image. It seemed to Hager that we sounded too presidential and reminded me of the tone and style that Donald was following in his campaign. He even alluded that the plot is a joke that he assisted Trump to get into the White House.

According to Hager, the thought was rejected by Vince McMahon. Hager recalled that he had been told by him to avoid it. This idea did not even go to the TV.
Trump Hall of Fame
Nevertheless, there is still a strong reaction to the WWE legacy of Trump. Still, the fact that he was inducted in the Hall of Fame remains a controversial topic in the circle of the world of wrestling insiders. The move has been condemned by WWE icon and a former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura who said that there are individuals in his circle of friends who deserved the honor. Ventura went further to describe Trump as angry to feature in the Hall of Fame.
Though the political factor of the story did not materialize, Hager, in the story, brings out the fact that WWE has always gone to the extremes in regard to blending entertainment with real life personalities. Then the fans are left to wonder what would have happened had the idea of Swagger materialized.
