Cena Reflects On Lesnar Battle
Some of the largest names in professional wrestling have pitted themselves against John Cena. But the 17-time world champion feels his 2025 fight with Brock Lesnar is the toughest fight of his career. This match was to fit into Cena’s retirement tour. It followed Lesnar’s return to WWE at SummerSlam, where he started an altercation with the veteran star. This rivalry eventually ended in a big match at WrestlePalooza, where Lesnar would come out on top.
Why The Match Felt Different
During his recent Undisputed appearance, Cena discussed the match and why he was so touched by it. But that doesn’t mean that Cena’s next match was going to be her hardest — he would always say that up until now. “The toughest one was from the retirement tour against Brock Lesnar. The reason I say that isn’t just because it was physically demanding–any match with Brock is physically demanding.”
Fan Reaction Made It Harder
But Cena confessed that the challenge was more than just the physical beating that comes with taking a fight from Lesnar. It was even more difficult to deal with the emotional response from fans, he added. “What was tough about that one is I’ve had my butt kicked by Brock Lesnar before, and you guys loved it. In Indianapolis, I got my butt kicked by Brock Lesnar, and you hated it. So that made it physically and mentally tough. It was easily the toughest match of my career.”
A Rivalry That Spanned Decades
Cena and Lesnar have had some great matches in their WWE careers. The competition has been over 20 years, and they have had their share of great moments at the company. While Cena has left the ring, he is still active in WWE discussions and storylines. He also had some banter with Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar earlier this year, letting us know that he still keeps up with the action in the WWE.
