Brandi Rhodes Sparks Social Media Buzz
Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton is a top storyline ahead of Sunday Night’s Main Event. A recent social media lighthearted post from Brandi Rhodes did add a humorous twist to the intense story, though. The old-time WWE announcer and AEW executive went online with a lighthearted message, straight at Orton. Her public response looked like she was more excited about the impending battle than the two contestants.
Playful Message Precedes Personal Ring Feud
To welcome Orton to Atlanta, WWE’s official graphic was used and it was a hilarious “Randall” by Brandi. The Texas State Representative’s comment was picked up by wrestling fans and went viral shortly before a highly personal bout. She was succinct, but managed to shine a light on the competition without taking away from the compelling story. There have been numerous skirmishes between Rhodes and Orton over the last few months and the situation has been bubbling away furiously for a while now.
Unfinished Business Drives Intense Rivalry History
Cody had taken down The Viper at a memorable match at WrestleMania 42 in the past. The win celebration didn’t last long though as Orton would pull a dirty post-match punt kick and then disappear. Orton came back at SummerSlam making an Undisputed WWE Championship match with CM Punk, where he got in a great RKO on Rhodes. Surprise interference was used to his advantage by Punk to retain his title. Earlier this year Rhodes also lost the title to Sami Zayn at Night of Champions.
Will Ospreay Weighs In On Presentation
This week of course, Cody got the attention off the WWE programming with his overall presentation. Will Ospreay, the new AEW World Champion, gave the SHAK Wrestling team his take on Cody’s entrance on the show. Ospreay said he still loves Rhodes’ classic theme song of “Smoke and Mirrors” more than his theme song “Kingdom” now. Ospreay said he was just a personal opinion after his All In victory, but the fans had a fierce discussion on the topic.
Cody Rhodes Remains Central Wrestling Figure
The one thing to note about both is how early both of them happened, showcasing Cody’s colossal presence in all aspects of the pro wrestling world. From his answer to a joke from Brandi, or one from someone else, Rhodes is always a focal point of discussion. With his rich history with Orton, this bout will have far more emotional significance as Sunday Night’s Main Event nears.
