Ric Flair Clarifies Emotional Social Media Post

Professional wrestling legend Ric Flair, bloodied and exhausted, leans on the ring ropes during his final advertised match at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium on July 31, 2022.

Ric Flair took the social media by storm this week, as he made an emotional posting on his social media that has been misunderstood by many of his fans. The Nature Boy was known in dramatic posts, but this was one that was really of heavier burden than usual. Within a couple of minutes the comments were flooded with fans seeking answers to what was wrong and were worried about one of the most respected wrestling personalities.

Flair’s Misunderstood Tribute

The track that Flair was sending was directed at his old time rival Ricky Steamboat and was much more ominous than he wanted to make it seem. In the posting, Flair recalled their days and was thankful of Steamboat since he provided him with the memories and even had a date which also helped to create confusion. Together with an old image of the two heroes, it was perceived by many as a farewell and not a greeting.

Steamboat’s Wife Clarifies

The spouse of Steamboat came to the rescue in time and this stifled the panic. As a genuine reaction to an article by Flair, she shared the gratitude with the fans and indicated that Flair was not aiming to hurt them in the least. She continued to state that Flair had never been insulting to me or Ricky and this in itself reassured the fans and turned the worry into relief.

Flair-Steamboat Legendary Rivalry

The rivalry of Flair and Steamboat is one of the most legendary in the history of wrestling and in that instance it was in the NWA in the late 70s and 80s. Their trilogy is a yardstick on technical wrestling and story-telling in the year 1989. The emotional component of the post by Flair totally made sense as soon as the tribute was taken within the context.

Flair Confirms No Return

Meanwhile, also under rumor, was talk of a possible in-ring reappearance on his part. One of his recent signings provided speculation of a match with Ricky Morton through a comment he made. Flair shut the door on such rumors and it was he who made it clear that he will never wrestle again. He still remains focused on the history of wrestling and not going back to the ring.

The fans can now savor the message that Flair delivered since it was a pure homage to a legendary career workplace rivalry and a recollection of his role in professional wrestling.
