She didn’t waste any time in asserting herself, and went right after Kali Armstrong.
Armstrong Survives Rain Before Brutal Ambush
After a tough match, Armstrong won what was a very big singe from Lizzy Rain. Rain challenged her opponent on many occasions with set-piece attacks. Armstrong held off to start pressure, but found the Kali Connection later to get the victory. Her celebration was short-lived as Raye suddenly emerged out of nowhere. According to reports, Raye was taken aback by a brutal attack from the back of the ring where she was set upon by Raye and forced to get out of the ring as quickly as she could.
Raye Maintains Ring Sharpness At Events
Raye last appeared on NXT television was on July 21 during Volcan’s first appearance where she faced Reina Volcan. During that fight, she struggled to get away but finally gave in to the Natural Disaster submission hold. It was her last appearance eight weeks before she made an unexpected return this week. Even if she left the weekly TV screens, Raye wasn’t out of the squared circle. She was very active during the month of August at the live events of NXT. For her, it was the first time she appeared on television in 56 days but not her first time on the pitch.
Creative Team Ignites Fresh Singles Feud
How WWE has handled her dramatic comeback might be more important than the absence itself. The creative team did not introduce Raye into the game through a match or an easy backstage segment, but instead, they made her a part of the game right away, opposite Armstrong. That made it very clear to the viewers why they must give her a close look when she returns. It also establishes an extreme one-on-one matchup between the two young guns.
NXT Women’s Division Gains New Momentum
Armstrong has continued to gain a gradual amount of momentum on NXT. When she beat Rain, it was like she was making another big step in her career. But the discussion was quickly interrupted by Raye’s cruel attack, which instantly gave Armstrong a new problem to deal with. NXT already has several stories going on as it pertains to the women’s division in its championship and non-championship scenarios. The inclusion of Raye brings another interesting addition to the mix every week and also the possibility of a new competition that isn’t even for a championship.
