Tommaso Ciampa shocked the fans on January 21 when he said that his WWE contract would run out and he will depart the company. It was revealed through a post on social media, the post Ciampa had kept very confidential, as his status concerning contracts. It was announced in his new chapter on January 28 episode of AEW Dynamite, just a week later, and this announcement made the world aware of his comeback.
Ciampa Details Secret Exit
Ciampa stated in an interview with Renee Paquette on Up Close how he had been so cautious on the transition. I had a termination date of my contract, and Ciampa and his wife were aware of it. I was very secretive in it. No one knew that date. I do not know even whether my tag mate at the time [Johnny Gargano] knew the very date. I just didn’t tell anyone. Ok, dismissal during the evenings of the 26 th. I had the itineration of how I want the next evolution to look like and what the presentation would turn out to be. Ciampa said whether AEW would be the place to do was a kind of wishful thinking.
Perfectly Timed AEW Debut
The AEW arrival came precisely in line with individual plans. Ciampa and his wife were going to a trip to Blue Hills Ranch in Texas. It just happened that AEW was to be staging a performance in Texas during the same week. The opportunity to do so was assembled in an extremely short time and one of the most talked about publications of the year was created.

Ciampa had no time to bring out himself. His first match in the AEW platform saw him win the AEW TNT Championship, thus immediately becoming a key figure in the company. The victory was a sign of a new era and a powerful statement.
Since his debut, Ciampa still appeared in media to offer an explanation of the behind-the-scenes of the move. His scathing remarks have been used to give an insight into his strategic thought upon his exit at WWE and his arrival at AEW.
