WWE Reveals Historic Match Rankings
WWE announced the ten best hell in a Cell matches of all time. The list of WWE was published on July 10, 2026, a week before SummerSlam 2026, when Lesnar and Oba Femi will fight in the steel structure. The news shocked the WWE Universe, as hell in a Cell is one of the most popular match types. There have been 53 hell in a Cell matches since the structure was first used in 1997.
Undertaker Dominates Cell History
The Undertaker holds the record for the most matches in hell in a Cell in the history of WWE: he has 14 such matches, in which he won 8. It was no surprise that the all-time classic Undertaker vs. Mankind from the 1998 King of the Ring, which had an audience of 1.8 million viewers, was included as the number 1 match. Such a high position is justified by such historic moments as the appearance of two necks of Mankind (his real name is Michael «Mankind» Modine) through the cage after the second fall.
Classic Matches Earn Top Spots

The number 2 spot was taken by the first Hell in a Cell match from 1997, which was held at the Bad Blood between Undertaker and Shawn Michaels and is considered one of the most memorable confrontations in WWE history. It is the match where Kane made his in-ring debut, and Michaels almost killed Undertaker with a kendo stick. The number 3 match is the recent fight between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in 2022, which went down in history because of the injury to Cody Rhodes’ pectoralis major – this match became a viral sensation on the Internet.
Modern Classics Make The List
Besides, this match is remembered for being the first hell in a Cell for women, which happened in the WWE Draft 2020 and took the 8th position in the list. The most notable bouts of CM Punk are also represented in the list at position 9: his fight against Drew McIntyre, which occurred at Badd Blood 2024, is his second hell in a Cell match and has taken the 5th position. One of the best Undertaker-WWE Hell in a Cell matches at WrestleMania 28 ranked 4 th on the list.
Can Lesnar And Femi Deliver?
The 6 th match saw Cactus Jack and Triple H from No Way Out 2000, two of the most feared bad guys in the history of WWE. The 7 th on the list is the fight between Undertaker and Brock Lesnar at No Mercy in 2002, and the 10 th is the battle between Undertaker and Edge at SummerSlam 2008, which had the second-fewest falls in history. The match that will determine the strongest wrestler in hell in a Cell between Lesnar and Oba Femi at SummerSlam 2026 can become the best one of all time.
