Roman Reigns Dashes Mexico Hopes

WWE had other ideas for the passionate fans in Arena CDMX, however, as they had in Mexico City. Penta ran in with a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship in Monday Night RAW, but was dispatched by Roman Reigns. The win ended the prospect of a great homecoming celebration. Penta was walking in on a huge local crowd for his biggest match of his WWE career. He got this big time job because he secured a hard fought number one contender’s tournament. That’s because he even beat his own brother, Rey Fenix, in the final round to make it in!

Penta Fuels Electric Crowd Energy

In the electric mood, this was a match that was very different from a typical weekly match. But Penta fought hard in front of fans desperate to see him at the top of the mountain. In the meantime, Reigns was in for a challenging fight to survive from the raw crowd energy fueling his rival. Each of the near falls produced a roar, making prediction the more difficult. Penta was especially close during an exciting finish. He hooked up with a number of good superkicks and kept the champion on the back foot all the time. This sparked real hope that Reigns may finally be knocked down.

Champion Turns Tables With Spear

But as the challenger looked like he was on a roll for his biggest career win, Reigns turned the tables. The dominant champion put a thunderous Superman Punch on Penta. He immediately followed that with a devastating Spear. The fairytale celebration fans have envisioned was only for three seconds and suddenly it was gone. Reigns continued to hold the title of World Heavyweight Champion and Mexico City still held the prestigious title securely around the champion’s waist.

Reigns Secures Clean Title Defense

One little fact made the victory even more significant for the champion. Reigns didn’t need any outside help to prevent him from losing his title. He wasn’t saved at the last moment from a clean sweep or cheated on a curious last-minute save. Rather, he took up all of Penta’s top scorer and hit the right spot to score the game on his own.

Penta Retains Strong Future Momentum

A crushing loss doesn’t necessarily mean the end of momentum for Penta. To get the chance to beat one of WWE’s biggest faces in a major RAW main event final solidified his place close to the top of the card. The fans’ response was tremendous, clearly showing that he still has a lot of support for his future endeavours.
