CM Punk Changes SummerSlam Picture
WWE SummerSlam 2026 is on the horizon, and it looks like this year’s event will be one of the largest of the year. This two-night big event will host several championship contests and big match-ups that have been developing over the past few months. On the July 6 episode of RAW, things got very different on the road to SummerSlam. Cody Rhodes got injured, and CM Punk came out of nowhere. Instead, Punk came to the big showdown against Sami Zayn in front of the hometown fans in Chicago, and took over the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Shield Rivals Meet Again
The victory kickstarted one of the biggest SummerSlam events in history. It’s now up to Punk to defend the title against Rhodes in a big fight. Another substantial title showdown, with Roman Reigns defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins, will also happen. It’s been one of WWE’s longest-running rivalries between two former Shield teammates that they’ve rekindled. They’ve had more personal, physical clashes recently.
Hell In A Cell Showdown
Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi will also have their feud resolved in Hell in a Cell. Both of them have already won each other’s titles at WrestleMania 42 and Clash in Italy. They should be one of the toughest battles of the night, heading into their next fight. It will also be a WWE Women’s World Championship match as Liv Morgan faces IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s World Championship. In other news, Chad Gable will defend his fledgling WWE Intercontinental Championship against Penta.
Championship Matches Take Center Stage
Also on the agenda will be a big six-man tag team bout. The match will feature an all-LA Knight vs. Solo Sikoa and Royce Keys vs. Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Jacob Fatu.

SummerSlam Date And Streaming Details
SummerSlam 2026 will be held Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The nights will start at 6 p.m. ET both nights. Viewers in the United States will see it on ESPN, and several locations around the world will stream the event live through Netflix. WWE is also asking fans to revisit some of its past SummerSlam events, as the entire lineup has been added to Netflix.
