Former World Champion Makes Surprise WWE Return

Naraku Makes Shocking WWE NXT Return

WWE NXT has had the shock of the week as Naraku has made his return to television. The former EVIL member wasted no time showing his return as he attacked an important match on the roster. Naraku was last seen on NXT on July 21, and he wasted no time making his presence known. He has become one of the most talked-about names on NXT this week, and he has already reignited an old rivalry.

Naraku Targets NXT North American Title

Naraku was previously targeting Tony D’Angelo and the NXT Championship belt. He challenged D’Angelo for the title at The Great American Bash, but he suffered defeat as he was unsuccessful in capturing the prize. The Japanese star later faced D’Angelo again in a Street Fight, but he walked away from the match as the loser again. Naraku would soon vanish from WWE’s programming as he disappeared from the scene, and his recent return has been shocking this week. Naraku made his surprise return in the match between Jackson Drake and Shiloh Hill. The winner of the two would earn the chance to challenge the NXT North American Championship.

Both men showcased a good display in the match, and it led to Myka Lockwood interfering to help Drake. The referee, Derek Sanders, saw Lockwood’s interference and sent her back. It seemed the clean finish was in order, but Hill would also suffer as he was attacked by Naraku due to the referee’s attention to Lockwood. Naraku would spray Hill with mist before Drake took advantage of the distraction. He would perform a 450 Splash on Hill to pin him and seize the opportunity to challenge for the NXT North American Championship belt.

Myles Borne Faces Double Title Duty

Drake has now secured his spot to face Myles Borne over the titular prize at Heatwave 2026 on August 30 at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas. It is expected that Borne has an eventful night ahead of him as he will have to defend the NXT Tag Team Championship. The title will be on the line as Borne and his partner, Tavion Heights, will face off against Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes. It will see the champion wrestle in two matches on the same night, and it will be due to Naraku’s interference.

Naraku Opens New NXT Rivalry

Naraku’s return to NXT has opened up another route for his storylines. He has not interfered with D’Angelo and the NXT Championship, but he has meddled with Drake and Hill’s match. It has given Hill a reason to seek revenge against Naraku for costing him the shot to secure the title. The two men could soon be engaged in a rivalry as Naraku continues to test WWE’s rising superstars. Naraku has not only surprised NXT this week with his return but has also altered the landscape of the North American Championship division while giving WWE another rival for its stars to feud with.
